This page was created to introduce and reintroduce The Real Mikey D, aka Playboy Mikey D, aka Mikey D'Struction.
Mikey D began his journey in Hip Hop around 1979, when long time friend D Money introduced him to Hip Hop through cassette tapes.. Fascinated by the word play, Mikey D immediately knew what he wanted to do, RAP!! He started out with The Grand Master 3 (Everloving Kid Ice aka D Money, Lovable Little B, DJ Johnnie Quest, and back then Playboy Mikey D). Sharpening his skills, he rocked with several local crews. The L.A. Rap Masters, Phenomenal Four, Money Making Three, and the Sensational Five. There were other crews in Laurelton Queens that were more established, with a bigger following. Rappermatical, and Professional 5 to name a few. But one crew with that same popularity stood out to a young Mikey D, The Clientel Brothers!! While the other popular crews had hot dance steps and routines, The Clientel Brothers had individual lyrical skills, as well as routines and cool steps. Eddie Ojay (Clientel Capo) invited Mikey D and Johnnie Quest to a Clientel Brothers rehearsal, later giving the two the opportunity to be the youngest members of the crew, taking the young boys to another level.. Eddie Ojay And Will Sevill's skills and swag were the main ingredients of a young Mikey's style and flow, creating a young Lyrical Beast.. Traveling from hood to hood, battling the best in each town, Mikey bumped heads with a young Jay Ski. The two were supposed to battle but immediately respected eachothers flow, bugging off the similary's. They began rocking together, even bringing Jay Ski to meet the Clientel Brothers. One day Jay Ski changed his name to Cool J, Asking Mikey what he thought. "It's Cool", said Mikey, "but you need a nick name in front, something like Playboy.. How bout Ladies Love"?? The rest is history. Speaking of battles, Mikey is mostly known for The New Music Seminar Battle For World Supremacy in 1988, where he was crowned champion. Mikey has worked with greats like Paul C McKastie, Rahzel, Symbolic 3, The Original LA Posse, Main Source, No Strings Attatched, Jazzy 5, and even today Elements Of HipHop, and Team Fearless. Labels include, NIA Resords, Reality Records, Public Records, Sleeping Bag/ Fresh Records, Magnum Records. Wild Pitch Records, and Blackeye Records. Songs include Run Jesse Run, No Show, We're Threacherous, My Telephone, Dawn, Bust A Rhyme Mike, I Get Rough, Go For It, Out Of Control, Coming In The House, What You Need, And many more.. Today Mikey D continues to grind hard. Nothing has changed but the time. Stay tuned for more great music from Mikey D, aka Playboy Mikey d, aka Mikey D'Struction
